Trouble joining your education session?

You don’t need a Zoom account, and in most cases there’s nothing to download. Here’s how to get in.

Before you start (optional)
Want to make sure your camera, microphone and speakers work? Visit zoom.us/test any time for a quick practice run. If you have Google Chrome, we suggest using it — it works most reliably in a web browser.

How to join

1

Click the link in your email

At the scheduled time, click the Zoom meeting link we sent you.

New to Zoom, or haven’t used it in a while? It’s worth clicking the link 5–10 minutes early so you have time to get set up and make sure you can get in before we begin.

2

Choose “Join from your Browser”

A message may ask you to download or open the Zoom app. You don’t need to. Click Cancel, then look for a small link that says Join from Your Browser and click it.

3

Enter your name

Type a name so we can let you in. Your first or last name helps us know who attended — but if you’d rather stay private, a nickname is completely okay.

4

Allow microphone and speakers

If your device asks for permission to use your microphone or speakers, click Allow.

5

Wait to be admitted

You may be placed in a waiting room for a moment. A team member will let you in shortly.

Seeing “Please wait for the host to start this meeting”?

That’s completely normal — it just means the session hasn’t opened yet. Leave the window open and you’ll be let in when it begins.

Still having trouble?

Try these one at a time.

  • Close the Zoom window and click the meeting link again.
  • Use Google Chrome if you can. Edge, Safari and Firefox can also work.
  • If nothing loads, open the link in a private or incognito window — this stops ad blockers getting in the way.
  • Check that your internet connection is working.
  • If the link won’t open at all, go to zoom.us/join and type in the Meeting ID from your email.
  • If the browser keeps failing and it’s a computer you own, installing the free Zoom app is the most reliable option — it’s Zoom’s own recommended fix.
  • On a phone or tablet? Try a computer if you can. If phone is all you have, the free Zoom app is usually easier.
  • Restart your device and open the meeting link again.
