Lipoedema care is not only about surgery.
Many women come to LSS looking for answers, a diagnosis, or guidance on managing their symptoms. Our pathway starts with education and an individual assessment. This lets us understand your presentation, your broader health and your management needs before we talk about whether any further investigation or treatment might help.
You can use our Brisbane services whether you are newly exploring lipoedema, already diagnosed, managing it conservatively, or thinking about surgery down the track. If you are new to all of this, a good place to begin is understanding what lipoedema is and how it differs from lymphoedema.

Take the first step
Not sure where to begin?
Our group education session is a relaxed introduction to lipoedema, the LSS pathway and your options. There is no referral needed, and no pressure to decide anything on the day.
Why do we look beyond lipoedema itself?
Lipoedema does not always occur on its own.
When we assess you, we look at your wider health and symptoms, not just the lipoedema. Where it is clinically useful, that can mean checking for associated venous, lymphatic or other factors that might affect your symptoms, your conservative management, or your preparation for surgery.
This helps us build a plan around you as an individual.
If I live in Brisbane, will I need to travel to the Gold Coast?
Not for every appointment.
A lot of your LSS pathway can happen through telehealth or at our Brisbane clinic. If you decide to go ahead with lipoedema surgery, the procedure itself takes place at Miami Private Hospital on the Gold Coast.
Your care team will tell you which appointments or tests need to happen where.
How do I get started in Brisbane?
Begin with a group education session.
The easiest first step is our online group education session, where you can learn about lipoedema, conservative management and the LSS pathway before deciding anything. From there, a telehealth consultation and, where appropriate, in-person assessment in Brisbane can follow.
You do not need a referral to begin.

How to get to the clinic
Wickham Terrace sits on the hill above the city, so it helps to plan your arrival. Below is how to reach us by car, train, bus or taxi, plus where to park if you drive.
By car and where to park
The clinic is on Wickham Terrace, a short drive from the Inner City Bypass and the Riverside Expressway.
On-street: metered street parking runs along Wickham Terrace and the streets around it, with time limits during business hours.
Off-street: there are several commercial car parks a short walk away, including ones on Wickham Terrace and near Turbot and Edward Streets. These suit longer appointments.
By train
Central Station is about 400m away, roughly a five minute walk. The walk up to Wickham Terrace is uphill, so give yourself a little extra time.
From the station, head up Edward Street and turn onto Wickham Terrace. If the hill is difficult, there are lifts and step-free routes you can use.
By bus, taxi or rideshare
Plenty of bus routes stop nearby on Edward Street and Wickham Terrace, and the King George Square and Roma Street interchanges are close by.
Taxis and rideshare can drop you right at the building entrance on Wickham Terrace, which saves the walk uphill.
Mobility and accessibility: if the hill or the walking distance is a concern, a taxi or rideshare drop-off at the entrance is usually easiest, and there are accessible parking bays close by. Tell our team when you book and we can send directions to suit you.
